Qatar emir's adviser seeks Dhaka's support for Unesco DG post

Qatar Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani's Cultural Adviser Dr Hamad Bin Abdulaziz Al-Kawari has sought Bangladesh's support for his election to the position of director general of Unesco.

The election will be held in October 2017.

Doha officially sought Dhaka's support when Bangladesh Ambassador to Qatar Ashud Ahmed was invited by the adviser at his office, according to a message received in Dhaka on Friday.

Ashud said Bangladesh would definitely consider extending its support.

Kawari said that he would visit Bangladesh sometime in the coming months in this regard.
