Road accidents kill four, injure six
At least four people were killed and six injured in road accidents across the country in the last two days, according to reports from our correspondents and news agencies.
In Satkhira, two people were killed and two injured in two separate accidents in Shyamnagar upazila yesterday.
In Isakur area, Sadek Hossain, 18, was killed when his motorbike hit a van, police said.
Locals took Sadek to nearby health complex where doctors declared him dead.
In Chandpur area, Abu Sayeed, 27, was killed when his motorbike collided with a van around 8:30am, police said.
After the accident, Sayeed and the two pillion passengers were injured.
They were rushed to the local health complex where doctors declared Sayeed dead.
In Bogura, Sohel Rana, 35, was killed when the microbus carrying him and a truck collided at Manik Chak area of the town yesterday.
Quoting locals, police said the microbus was carrying some examinees and their relatives. When the vehicle was going to the exam centre around 8:45am, the truck collided with it.
After the accident, Sohel, the microbus driver and three other passengers were injured. Locals took them to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital where the doctor declared Sohel dead. The others are being treated at the hospital, they added.
The body is being kept at the hospital’s morgue for autopsy. Police seized the truck, but the driver and helper managed to flee.
In Dinajpur, Nizam Uddin, 55, was killed as a pickup-van hit him on Hili-Ghoraghat road in Ghoraghat upazila on Thursday.
According to witnesses and police, a speeding pickup-van hit him from behind while he was walking, leaving him critically injured.
Locals took Nizam to the health complex. As his condition kept deteriorating, he was referred to a hospital in Bogura, but he died on the way.
The van driver fled the scene with the vehicle.
