Road crashes kill 3, injure 31

Three people were killed and 31 others injured in road accidents in five districts yesterday.

In Jhalakathi, Panna Mia, 50, of Dakhin Anilbunia was killed at Dhaka Medical College Hospital yesterday after he was hit by a motorcycle while he was crossing the Battola-Kaikhali road in Kahtalia on Wednesday.

Three motorcycle riders were also injured in the incident.

In Manikganj, Bojlul Haque, 50, of Ghior upazila was killed and another was injured when a truck hit their motorcycle on Dhaka-Aricha highway at Muljan.

He was a senior lawyer of Manikganj Bar and general secretary of Ghior upazila unit BNP.

In Chittagong, Mohammed Tanvir, 14, of Ghoramara village was killed when a bus ran him over while he was crossing the Dhaka-Chittagong highway near Kumira area of Sitakunda upazila.

In Benapole, 20 people were injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a bus in Shamlagachi area on Benapole-Jessore Road.

In Gazipur, seven people were injured as a truck plough through a roadside shop after it hit two CNG-run auto-rickshaws and a four-wheeler on Dhaka-Mymensingh road in MC Bazar of Sreepur yesterday.
