'Ronoda Prasad Roy Award' introduced at DU

'Ronoda Prasad Roy Award of Academic Excellence' is introduced at the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Applied Mathematics of Dhaka University (DU) yesterday.

Vice-Chancellor in-charge and Treasurer of North South University Dr Gour Gobinda Goswami handed a cheque for Tk 24 lakh and 44 thousand to DU Treasurer Prof Dr Md Kamal Uddin.

A Muslim donor who desires not to be identified has made the donation to introduce this award in memory of late Ronoda Prasad Roy, a third year honors student of Mathematics brutally killed by the Pakistani Army on March 25, 1971.

Out of the income of this donation, every year two meritorious students from the Hindu community with the highest CGPA in Bachelor of Science final examinations from Mathematics and Applied Mathematics will be given this award.
