RU creates 420 more seats for next year

The Rajshahi University authorities are launching seven new departments, one institute and starting honours programmme under another institute, giving opportunity to about 355 students to be a part of the university from 2015-16 academic session.

The new departments are law and land administration department (50 seats) under law faculty, electrical and electronics engineering (EEE) (30 seats) under engineering faculty, clinical psychology (25 seats) under life and earth science faculty, physical education and sport science (30 seats) under science faculty, and three departments -- graphic design, craft and history of art department (45 seats), ceramics, sculpture and painting (45 seats), and oriental art and print making (30 seats) -- under fine arts faculty.

The authorities are also introducing honours programme for 50 students under the Institute of Business Administration, and launching the Institute of Education and Research with 50 seats.

Besides, 50 seats have been added to law department, five seats to music department, and 10 seats to fisheries department, said RU Public Relation Office Administrator Prof Elias Hossain.

Meanwhile, the authorities reduced 10 seats in social work department.

The decisions were finalised at an admission committee meeting chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof Muhammad Mizanuddin on Monday noon.

The online registration for admission will be continued from October 1 till 18 while the admission test will continue from November 9 till 12.
