RU Progressive Students' Alliance demands salary hike for teachers

Progressive Students' Alliance, a platform of four leftist student bodies, yesterday on Rajshahi University campus demanded separate pay scale for university teachers, which will result in their salary increase and preventing commercialisation of education.

At the university's Tukitaki Chattar, the speakers said due to poor salary, public university teachers teach at private universities and other institutes, and intend to conduct evening maters' courses.

They also urged the government to increase the budget allocation for education and research sectors.
