RU senate meeting today after 14 years

The Rajshahi University senate's 21st meeting will be held today after 14 years.

The last meeting was held on June 28-29, 2001, although it is supposed to be held at least once a year according to the RU ordinance. At today's meeting, different important issues including approval of a new institute, launch of honours courses in an institute, approval of budget, and increase in the retirement age from 62 to 65 will be discussed.

Prof Sadequl Arefin Matin, student affairs adviser, said the meeting was not held for such a long time "due to unwillingness of the previous administrations". Vice Chancellor Md Mizanuddin said they had taken initiatives to hold senate meeting every year.
