SCBA chief requests UNHCR inquiry

Supreme Court Bar Association President Khandker Mahbub Hossain yesterday requested the United Nations Commission on Human Rights (UNCHR) to inquire about the incidents of torture on people of religious minorities in the country.

Also a senior BNP leader, he made the request while presiding over a meeting, organised by BNP's Human Rights Cell in the SCBA auditorium, to launch a book "Minority Torture by Awami League". Former BNP ministers Nitai Roy Chowdhury, and Goutam Chakrabarty, and Dhaka University teacher Sukamal Barua also spoke.
