Shahjadpur sub-registrar suspended

The law ministry has suspended Subrata Kumar Das, sub-registrar of Shahjadpur in Sirajganj, on charge of professional misconduct and corruption, and attached him to the district registrar’s office.

The ministry also decided to lodge a departmental case against Subrata over the allegation of corruption, a notification issued by the law and justice division under the ministry said yesterday.

“As the allegations brought against the accused officer are serious, it will not be right to keep him in his office for the sake of completing the investigation,” it said.

The notification, however, said Subrata Kumar Das will get the relevant allowances during his suspension period.

Earlier, a video clip of Shahjadpur’s Sub-registrar Subrata taking bribe in his office went viral on social media platform Facebook and sparked criticism across the country.
