Six ‘JMB members’ arrested in Savar
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) claimed to have arrested six suspected members of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) in Savar early yesterday.
The arrestees were identified as Omar Faruk Rubel alias Sunny (28), Habibur Rahman alias Badsha (48), Saidur Rahman (55), Mahbubur Rahman alias Dudu (55), Shafiqul Islam Shafiq (37) and Golam Mostafa (51), said Rab.Tipped off, a team of Rab-4 arrested the six after conducting a drive in Badda-Bhatpara area of Savar, said Sajedul Islam Sajal of Rab-4, also a senior assistant superintendent of police.
The elite force members also recovered several books and leaflets on extremist ideology, and seven mobile phone sets from their possession, said the Rab official.
The arrestees will be handed over to Savar Model Police Station after completing legal process, added Sajedul.
Filing of a case was underway, said Saiful Islam, inspector (investigation) of the police station.
