Sust VC opponents abstain from work

As part of their movement to force Vice Chancellor Aminul Haque Bhuiyan to step down, a section of pro-Awami League teachers of the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) yesterday abstained from work from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

The protesters' forum, Mohan Muktijuddher Chetonay Udbuddho Shikkhak Brindo, has been staging demonstrations since mid-April, accusing the VC of corruption, nepotism, and misbehaviour with colleagues.

Prof Bhuiyan denies all.

The platform claims that some 100 out of the total 320 teachers of Sust are demanding his resignation but the pro-AL teachers supporting the VC said the number of protesters will not exceed 37.
