Take unregistered vehicles off road by Apr 1

Police yesterday urged the drivers and owners of CNG-run auto-rickshaws to remove their unregistered three-wheelers, which were bought after December 14, 2013, from Chittagong city streets by March 31. 
The decision was taken at a meeting held between police and represesenatives from CNG-run auto-rickshaw drivers and owners in Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) conference room yesterday. 
According to CNG-run Auto-rickshaw Malik Chalok Oikya Parishad Chittagong District and City unit President Haider Azam Chowdhury, the present number of unregistered CNG-run auto-rickshaws is between 4,000 and 6,000 which was 1,200 in 2013.
Auto-rickshaw owners, who bought the vehicles before December 14, 2013, and filed a writ petition for undisrupted operations, have been asked to contact with police with documents before March 31. Actions will be taken on April 1 against the defaulters, said Masud-Ul-Hassan, deputy commissioner (Traffic-North) of CMP.
