Taramon Bibi shifted to Dhaka CMH

Freedom fighter Taramon Bibi, who was undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH), was shifted to the Combined Military Hospital in the capital yesterday for better treatment, reports our Mymensingh correspondent.

Taramon, 68, who was awarded Bir Protik for her outstanding contribution to the Liberation War, was admitted to the coronary care unit (CCU) of MMCH on Monday noon due to severe respiratory and lung diseases. She was taken to the hospital from her village home in Rajibpur of Kurigram.

She was sent to Dhaka by an ambulance with oxygen support, said Dr SK Apu, resident physician at the CCU.

Taramon was first taken to National Institute of Diseases of the Chest and Hospital (NIDCH) in the morning and later shifted to the CMH on doctors' advice, officials at NIDCH told out staff correspondent in Dhaka.

She was able to speak but suffering from severe chest problems, said NIDCH physicians.
