Staff Correspondent, Rajshahi

National Teachers-Employees Front demonstrated at Laxmipur intersection in Rajshahi city yesterday demanding removal of the chairman of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Rajshahi within 15 days.

The front leaders alleged that Chairman Prof Abul Hyat, who took the charge on February 16, tried to appoint two more personal assistants, whereas the post was already filled. He also upgraded 10 second class officials to first class standard without the concern of selection board which is illegal, they claimed.

The demonstrators also alleged that the chairman himself was appointed "illegally" as the board did not get any letter in this regard from the ministry concerned.

Prof Hayat said everything was done following laws and refused to describe further over the phone.

Prof AK Azad, secretary to the board, said Hayat brought his appointment letter with him which was genuine.
