TIB urges govt to allocate Tk 200cr for climate change fund

On the eve of International Mother Earth Day, the Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) demanded that the government allocate at least Tk 200 crore to Bangladesh Climate Change Trust Fund (BCCTF) in the national budget of 2015-16. 

In a statement issued yesterday, TIB Executive Director Dr Iftekharuzzaman said this year the day is being observed globally with the theme "It's our turn to lead".  

From 2009, the government has allocated Tk  2,900 core to the BCCTF which is good enough to demand compensation fund from the developed countries to fight the effects of global warming, it added.
