Trucker runs over another in Panchagarh

A truck driver allegedly killed another trucker by running him over in Panchagarh on Wednesday.

Later at night, the victim’s family filed a case with Tentulia Police Station, accusing Abdul Quddus, 25, and his helper Sagor, 23, of murdering Abdullah Al Mamun, 32, said police.

Mamun was driving to Banglabandha from Tentulia’s Tirnoihat village with several workers on his truck, said Officer-in-Charge Johurul Islam citing the case statement.

He tried to overtake another truck that did not give him room to pass, said the OC.

When Mamun was able to overtake at Sipaipara, he stopped his vehicle, got off and asked the other driver, Quddus, why he was not letting him pass, triggering a scuffle between them, said OC Johurul.

At one stage, Mamun was heading back to his vehicle but Quddus ran him over intentionally, the police officer said, quoting the case statement.

Locals took him to Panchagarh Sadar Hospital where he was declared dead.

Agitated people halted Quddus’ truck and handed him over to police while his helper managed to escape.
