Two jailed, eight vehicles fined in Ctg

A mobile court of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) in Chattogram jailed two persons for not keeping driving licences and fined eight vehicles Tk 18,700 yesterday for violation of traffic rules.

The mobile court, led by Magistrate NM Monjurul Haque, sentenced bus driver Md Suman, 24, to 20 days in jail while truck driver Mohammad Rubel, 26, from the port city’s Bandar area, was given 21-day imprisonment.

In another drive at the city’s Wasa intersection, the court fined the eight vehicles Tk 18,700 on different charges, BRTA officials said.

They also seized outdated documents of one of the vehicles, they said.
