Visually-impaired graduates demand employment
Visually impaired graduates have urged the government to ensure their employment so that they can live a decent life with an honest livelihood.
In absence of jobs, many of them are struggling and are deeply frustrated. The Covid-19 pandemic has increased their sufferings, said a council of job seeking visually-impaired graduates in an open letter to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The letter, signed by Md Ali Hossain on behalf of visually-impaired graduates, said some graduates are struggling to survive for want of employment.
The letter cited a meeting with the PM last year and said related government agencies did not take steps to address visually impaired graduates' problems. Nine months have passed since the meeting where the PM gave certain directives.
The council urged the government for implementation of its six-point proposal, including unemployment allowance for the jobless.
If the current situation continues, our mental state will steadily decline and we will slip into poverty, the letter said.
