Woman found dead in Narayanganj

Police recovered the hanging body of a woman from her residence in Shubakardi of Narayanganj Bandar upazila yesterday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Hasiba Akter Rita, 28. Her husband  Swapan Mia is a Saudi expatriate.

She was a homemaker and mother of a five-year-old boy, according to lcoals.   

Rita’s mother Hasina Begum alleged that Rita had a financial dispute with her brothers-in-law -- Saifuddin and Apan.

“They have killed Rita because of this dispute and I want justice for it,” she said.

However, Rita’s in-laws denied claims of any disputes, and said Rita died by suicide.  

Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Bandar Police Station, said they rushed to the spot on information from locals.

The body bore no marks of injury, but police were yet to ascertain whether it was a murder or suicide, the OC added.

The body was sent to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

However, no case was filed in connection with the incident until 9pm.
