COLOURCLOUD PALACE
In one word: beautiful.
When I watched this anime, the first thing that came to my mind was that. It is a very 'pretty' anime. And I'm not talking about the storyline or anything. Each of the characters (specially the men) and scenery was drawn so marvellously that you could stare at it all day. And the musical team did a splendid job too. The OST is very 'pretty' too.
The timeline is set during the medieval ages. A girl, Shurei, from a noble yet poor family gains entrance to the royal palace. How that happens? Find it out yourself. From then on, her quest begins to benefit the nation and its people. On her way, she comes across the great king. Innocent, kind and clueless, the king displays a very 'cute' character. He seeks refuge behind his two officials, and a brother who shield him through everything. Slowly, he becomes attracted to this girl and falls in love with her. But life's not that simple. I guess even if the king wants something, he will not always get it. Yes. Not even the king.
The anime reaches its prime time when this girl gets chosen as the governor and the real political conflict begins. This anime swiftly portrays the jealousy, hatred and cruelty contained in a court room. Greed for the throne is very dangerous and this can drive people to insanity. Here you actually get down from the cloud nine of 'pretty people' and experience the suspense and drama of politics.
But in the end, the best thing about this anime would be that it's very 'pretty'. One thing that may pull down the anime would be the fact that it gets stuck at some points. Then, the story just starts to drag and it may seem a little boring.
Score? Maybe 4 out of 5. It's a good anime and if you are interested in simply having a good time, you are moving in the right direction. Even through all the serious situations, this anime will make you laugh your hearts out. Even forgetting all of that, it's just so pretty!
