28 held while crossing border
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested 28 Bangladeshi nationals while they were illegally entering the country from India through Benapole border under Benapole Port Police station yesterday.
The arrestees include 12 women, six children and 10 men. They all hail from different upazilas of Narail and Khulna.
Lt Col Jahangir Hossain, commanding officer of BGB 26 Battalion, said acting on a tip-off, a team of the border guards conducted a drive in the area in the morning and detained the Bangladeshis while they were crossing the border without valid documents.
After filing a case with Benapole Port Police Station the arrestees were later handed over to police.
