44 to vie for each seat in DU entrance tests

After completion of the online admission process of Dhaka University yesterday, it is estimated that about 44 admission seekers will be competing for each seat, an increase by six from the last year.

Dhaka University began the online admission process on August 22 which continued till 11:59pm on September 7 for the 2016-17 honours session.

A total of 3,02,489  students have registered for the 6,800 seats, which have been increased by 115 this year. Last year a total of 2,54,404 students had contested.

The A (Ka) unit (science faculty) exams will be held on October 21 where 91,932 students are scheduled to vie for 1,680 seats (about 55 contestants per seat).

On September 23, a total of 35,066 students will battle for 2,241 seats (about 16 students per seat) in the B (Kha) unit (arts faculty) exams.

In the C (Ga) unit (business studies faculty) exams, to be held on September 30, a total of 43,064 students will vie for 1,170 seats (37 per seat).

Some 80 students will be competing for each of the 1,440 seats when 1,15,808 students sit for the D (Gha) unit exams on October 28. And for the (Cha) unit (fine arts faculty) exam, 16,619 students will compete for the 135 seats (123 per seat) on October 10 (general knowledge exam) and October 1 (drawing exam).
