BCL leader stabbed to death
A local leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was stabbed to death at Patrokhola Tea Garden in Kamalganj upazila on Tuesday night.
The deceased is Gopal Almik, 18, general secretary of ward No 7 unit of BCL under Madhabpur union and son of Apana Almik, a worker of the tea garden.
He was a student of Srimangal Government College, said police.
At around 8:00pm, Gopal engaged in an altercation with one Polia Mandraji, 34, of the area over SIM card.
At one stage, Polia stabbed the BCL leader indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured, said the victim's father.
He was later rushed to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital where on duty doctors declared him dead.
Polia went into hiding soon after the incident, said police.
