Boy abducted from N'ganj rescued in Sylhet, one arrested
A teenage boy, abducted from Fatullah area of Narayanganj on November 20, was rescued from Sukrobari Bazar in Jaintapur upazila of Sylhet district on Sunday.
The boy was identified as Mohammad Sohel Khan, 14, son of Alhad Chowdhury of Fatullah area.
A gang picked up Sohel from Chittagong Road area in Fatullah while he was going to a shop to buy chocolate at around 8:00pm. Later, the gang members demanded ransom from Alhad Chowdhury for release of his son
Alhad filed a case with Fatullah Police Station on November 29.
Main Uddin Chowdhury, commander of Rab-9 official in Sylhet, said members of the elite force, acting on secret information, raided a pharmacy at Sukrobari Bazar around 6:30pm and rescued the boy.
They arrested one of the abductors named Mohammad Faruk Miah, son of Ahmed Ali Chowdhury of Thoker Math village in Jaintapur upazila, from there. Faruk was later handed over to Jaintapur Police station.
Contacted, Officer-in-Charge Shafiul Kabir said they have launched a drive to arrest the rest of the abductors.
