Criminals vandalise Kalpana Picnic Spot in Thakurgaon
Criminals vandalised Kalpana Picnic Spot, an amusement park, about ten kilometres away from the district town, at Burirbadth village in Sadar upazila on Tuesday night.
Park authority said a group of local youths used to disturb visitors for the last several weeks.
They also took drugs here despite repeated objections, said witnesses.
The youths became angery as the authority resisted them a few days ago and warned them not to come there to create disturbance.
As a sequel to the incident, a gang of 15/20 stormed the picnic spot around 8:00pm and vandalised sculpture of Bangabandhu and other assets, said Park owner Shah Alam.
They were making preparation to file a case with Thakurgaon Police Station in this regard, said the owner.
On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control, said AKM Mehedi Hasan, officer-in-charge of the police station.
None of the gang was arrested as of filing of the report at 5:00 pm yesterday.
Contacted, the OC said they will take punitive action against the offenders after receiving complaint in this connection.
