Defamation suit against CU VC

Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury, vice-chancellor (VC) of Chittagong University (CU), was sued on charge of insulting a senior professor of the university in public.
Gazi Saleh Uddin, a professor of sociology department of CU, filed the case with the Court of Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Salem Md Noman.
The court took the charges in cognisance and ordered Detective Branch(DB) of police to begin investigation, Advocate Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury Faruk, the plaintiff's lawyer, told The Daily Star.
"The VC called my client a fake freedom fighter while addressing public on November 28" Faruk said.
This is an insult to Gazi Saleh Uddin, who fought for the freedom of our country during the country's liberation war in 1971, the lawyer added.
