Girl abducted from Gaibandha rescued in Gazipur
A schoolgirl, abducted from Fulchhari upazila of Gaibandha on August 25, was rescued from Joydevpur in Gazipur district on Monday.
Atiar Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Fulchhari Police Station, said the abductors picked up the girl, a Class X student of Fulchhari Pilot High School, while she was returning home at Chowdhurypara in Gazaria union of the upazila on August 25.
Victim's father filed a case with the Fulchhari Police Station, accusing Rana Mia, 21, and Sohag, 20 of the village the same day.
Despite launching several drives, police could not trace the victim. Later, they started tracking the mobile phones of the abductors and located them at Joydevpur.
In a joint operation on Monday, Fulchhari and Joydevpur police arrested Rana Mia. As per Rana's confession, police rescued the girl from a house in Joydevpur.
A police team led by Sub-Inspector Korban Ali of Fulchhari Police Station took the victim and the arrestee to Fulchhari yesterday.
They produced the abductor before the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court, Gaibandha. After recording the statement, the court sent him to jail.
