Govt seeks access to Thai camp survivor
Bangladesh today sought urgent access to its national in Thailand who was rescued from a mass grave, believed to be of trafficking victims, there.
Bangladesh mission there has already touched base with Thailand's Ministry of Social Development and human Security, a foreign ministry press statement said.
The Thai foreign ministry has assured all cooperation in this regard, it said. "They have further informed that the survivor is being treated with care at a local hospital and his condition is stable and healthy."
Bangladesh embassy in Thailand is on constant contact with Thai authorities for follow-up on the matter of consular interview and nationality verification, it added.
Two survivors were found from the mass grave site where remnants of 26 bodies, believed to be of trafficking victims from Bangladesh and Myanmar, were exhumed.
Local reports have it that one of the survivor is a Bangladeshi national Anuzar, who said he was kidnapped from Cox's Bazar and held captive for nine months.
