Jamaat leader arrested

Police arrested a union level leader of Jamaat-e-Islami at Baro Pathar village in Jakiganj upazila on Wednesday. The arrestee was identified as Abdul Jalil, 45, president of Birshri union unit of Jamaat. Officer-in-Charge of Jakiganj Police Station Safiqur Rahman Khan said acting on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a drive at the house of Jalil in the area and arrested him in the afternoon. The Jamaat leader was wanted in several cases, including one for assaulting police, the OC added.
