Job at 8 public universities with money: TIB
Cases of corruption and illicit financial transactions have been found in recruitment of lecturers at eight public universities of Bangladesh, Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) says.
TIB researchers Dipu Roy and Rezaul Karim presented a report in this regard at a press briefing held at the bureau's office in the capital's Dhanmondi this afternoon.
According to the report, illicit monetary transactions ranging from Tk 3 lakh to Tk 20 lakh have been found to have taken place over recruitment of lecturers in eight public universities.
Besides, there were also cases of recruitments being made over political and religious biasness, regional identities, and nepotism, according to the report.
Terming the overall scenario frustrating and alarming, TIB Executive Director Iftekharuzzaman demanded formation of integrated and complete framework on the recruitment of lecturers in the public universities.
The researchers did not disclose the names of the universities where the irregularities over the recruitment were found, however, they said the findings will be presented in details to the government if it wishes to take any action against the corruptions in this regard.
