Land officer among 17 sued in Pabna
The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against 17 people including a land official on charge of occupying 81 acres of government land through preparing false documents and tampering with land office record book in Chatmohar upazila under the district.
Md Jalal Uddin, assistant director of ACC, Pabna, filed the case with Pabna Sadar Police Station on Monday.
The accused include Rafikul Islam Mohsin, tahshilder (land official), Baiddanath Sen, Santosh Sen, Bishwanath Karmakar, Khondokar Abdul Kuddus, Abdullah Al Mahamud, Abdur Razzak, Abul Kashem, Md Ali Jabbar, Md Abdul Baten, Md Atiar Rahman, Md Shafikul Islam, Elias Uddin Sarkar, Farhad Nasim Sarkar, Ansar Mridha and Md Abul Hasem -- hailing from Somajgram in Chatmohar upazila.
"According to 1965 record, 84 acres of land on 140 serials of 26 No Khatian on 29 No Somaj Mouja in Chatmohar upazila under the district belonged to Jogesh Chandra Maitra. As his family migrated to India before independence the government owned the land and the RS record showed it. But the syndicate men changed the title of the land through tampering record volume of the land office," goes the case statement.
"The syndicate of occupiers tampered pages No 923, 924 and 925 of the record volume secretly. They printed false pages and tagged it with the volume. Removing the name of Jogesh Chandra from the document, names of 14 people were put as owners of the 81 acres out of the 84 acres of government land in the record volume," it said.
"Tahshilder Md Rafikul Islam helped the syndicate men to make false documents, shows our primary investigation," the complainant added.
Md Ahsanul Haque, officer in charge of Pabna Sadar Police Station, said, "The case has been recorded and we will submit the case document to ACC for investigation."
