Man takes own life after wife's suicide

A young man yesterday took his life following suicide of his wife in Parbatipur upazila of the district the day before.
Kanchan Roy, 30, son of Khoka Roy, of Chandinapara village, jumped off a running train at Monmathapur village in the upazila at noon and died on the spot.
The body was sent to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, said Mahmudul Alam, officer-in-charge of Parbatipur Police Station. 
Locals said Kanchan married Lota Rani Roy, 23, of the area, six months ago.
After their marriage, Kanchan's parents often tortured Lota for dowry.
On Sunday night, Lota tried to commit suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of her room following an altercation with her in-laws over the issue. 
Kanchan rescued Lota and took her to Rangpur Medical College Hospital where she died the following night.
Shocked at the death of Lota, Kanchan took his life yesterday noon, said family sources.
