Minor girl strangled

A two-year-old girl was killed allegedly by her neighbour at Chhaikola Purbapara village in Chatmohar upazila yesterday.

The deceased is Humaira Akhter Jim, 2, daughter of Abul Bashar of the village.

Police also arrested Sabina Khatun, wife of Soleman Mia of the village, for her alleged involvement in the incident.

Quoting locals, police said Sabina took Jim in her lap and later took the baby girl to her living room. She strangled the kid and kept the body underneath a bed.

During a search, family members spotted the body of the girl in Sabina's room and informed the police, Subrata Kumar, officer-in-charge of Chatmohar Police Station, said adding that they are trying to unearth the motive behind the killing.
