Robbers injure cops, snatch cohort

Criminals snatched an arrested 'robber' from law enforcers after injuring four policemen at Lawta village in Bianibazar upazila of Sylhet district yesterday.

The injured are Juber Ahmed, officer-in-charge, and Johirul Islam, sub-inspector of Bianibazar Police Station; and OC Akbar Hossain, and SI Amit Hosain of Baralekha PS in Moulvibazar.

They were admitted to the upazila health complex, said OC Juber Ahmed.

Police said the law enforcers in a drive arrested listed robber Abu Bakkar at Lawta village around 1:00pm.

At one stage, the arrestee's cohorts swooped on the policemen on the way back to Bianibazar Police Station and snatched Bakkar from them.

A case was filed in this connection, said police.
