Three youths fined for stalking

A mobile court fined three youths for stalking some female HSC examinees in Rajapur upazila of the district yesterday.

The stalkers are Md Mizanur Rahman, 24, son of Md Altaf Hossain, Rabbi, 20, son of Rashid Hawlader, and Arif Hossain, 20, son of Huamyun Kabir of Adakhola village.

The court, led by Executive Magistrate ABM Sadikur Rahman, fined them Tk 10,000 each. In default, they are to suffer three months in jail.

Police and witnesses said a group of female examinees were returning home from an examination centre by a tempo.

When the vehicle reached Uttompur Bazar in the upazila, the three started teasing the HSC examinees.

As other passengers protested the incident, the stalkers attacked them with lethal weapons, said Tarik, a passenger of the tempo.

On information, police rushed to the spot and arrested the three, said Md Yunus Miah, sub-inspector of Rajapur Police Station.

They were later produced before the court, led by Sadikur Rahman, upazila nirbahi officer, which punished them, said the SI.
