UPDF activist shot dead

An activist of United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) was shot dead by unknown criminals in Pasuramghat area under Guimara Police Station of the district yesterday.

The deceased was identified as Ranjan Chakma, 45, son of late Nandia Chakma of Hajachhara area under Laxmichhari upazila of the district.

Being informed, a police team went to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Khagrachhari Hospital.

UPDF blamed the Santu Larma led faction of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS) for the killing. Sajib Chakma, assistant press and information secretary of PCJSS, refuted the allegation.
