Youth beaten to death

A young man was beaten to death by a mob in Mirzarpur area under Hathazari upazila on Wednesday afternoon. The deceased is Nazrul Islam alias Nazu, 35, son of late Bhola Miah of the area. Mohammad Ismail, officer-in-charge of Hathazari Police Station, said Nazu was accused in four cases, including one for robbery. When he went to the area at around 2:30pm, angry locals caught Nazu, suspecting him a robber and gave him a good beating. Nazu died on the spot, said the OC. The body was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. A case was filed in this connection.
