David Correy's World Cup Anthem

FIFA World Cup 2014 is knocking on the door, and Coca-Cola has already picked out the first anthem for it. The anthem is titled “The World Is Ours”, a song performed by David Correy and Brazilian percussion troupe, Monobloc.
For this particular feature, David Correy gets the focus. The just-a-little-over 3 minute video starts off with a short intro on Correy and how he was adopted. Not until later do you realise the reason for this information. Personally, it felt quite abrupt to me.
Next, the clip shifts to Correy's experience in “X Factor”. In fact, a full clip of him singing in front of Justin Bieber and LA Reid is shown. But from then on the video starts to show Correy's growth towards stardom as an “undiscovered” talent along with his return back to homeland, Brazil (he was brought up in Maryland, USA after getting adopted).
The campaign video has clips of Correy finally meeting his estranged mother as the anthem plays in the background. FIFA World Cup anthems always have a way of tugging at the heartstrings. Correy's personal story doubles up on the feels in this one.
The campaign was produced by Coca-Cola. The 2014 FIFA World Cup will open on June 12th in Sao Paulo and many other anthems and campaigns like this are yet to be unveiled.
