Perseverance is key to survival for this kingfisher whose beautiful iridescent plumage makes it one of the most colourful and instantly recognisable birds. They fly rapidly, low over water, and hunt fish from riverside perches, occasionally hovering above the water's surface. They have to depend on their preying skills for food.  This particular bird is hungry and seen repeatedly diving to catch the fish. Then it is seen hovering to dive and then devouring the  fish on a branch. Delicious!
