6th Global Youth Film Festival Bangladesh kicks off today
The sixth edition of Global Youth Film Festival Bangladesh has begun from today. The three day long event is being held in Cox's Bazar.
The Joy Bangla Youth award winning film association-Cinema Bangladesh, will present films from 32 countries from all over the world.
In the previous years the festival took place in Laxmipur, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Bandarban, and Natore.
The event was inaugurated by Information minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, while Mohammad Shahin Imran, District Administrator was present as the special guest of the event, along with Chairman of development authority, Mohammad Nurul Absar, Municipal Chairman Mujibur Rahman and President of Shommilito Sanskritik Jote, Ghulam Kuddus.
Noted cultural personalities including the likes of Ramendu Majumdar, Nasir Uddin Yusuff, filmmakers Morshedul Islam, Proshoon Rahmaan, Producer, director, and CEO of Chorki Redoan Rony, artistes Azmeri Haque Badhan, Nasir Uddin Khan, Mostafizur Noor Imran, and singer Sharmin Sultana Sumi and others were present.
Films from the main competition section of the festival will be screened at the city's public library auditorium. The opening and closing of the festival will also be held at the same venue.
Apart from screening films directed by emerging filmmakers from both local and outside the country, some of the important contemporary short and full-length films will also be screened at the festival in the 'invited film' category. They are–
"Rehana Maryam Noor", "Mayar Jonjal", "Moshari", "Transit" and "Damal".
The crew members of these films also attended the opening ceremony, and they will also be present for the next two days at the festival venues.
The award-winning films will be announced at the festival's closing ceremony on March 5. Hon'ble Minister of Industries of Bangladesh,Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun MP will attend the closing ceremony as the chief guest.
