Bangladeshi filmmaker duo wins IEFTA award at Dhaka DocLab
"Field Marshal", an animated documentary project directed by Abid Sarker Shohag and produced by Sardar Zahidul Islam, won the Internationl Emerging Film Talents Association (IEFTA) award at Dhaka DocLab 2021.
The IEFTA award sponsors the winners to present their project at the Marché du Film at Cannes Film Festival.
This film intends to capture the story of the homecoming of Field Marshal, a Sarail hound, raised by none other than the commander in Chief of Bangladesh Liberation Army, General Muhammad Ataul Goni Osmani. When asked about the film, director Abid Sarker said, "So far, only the human perspective of our Liberation War has been explored. 'Field Marshal' is an attempt to go beyond the anthropocentric point of view."
The film is the first ever animated documentary project from Bangladesh. Mongol Deep Foundation is co-producing it. Sardar Zahid said, "The mentorship award of IEFTA will help us grow as filmmakers and enable us to take this project to an international audience."
Robiul Karim Minar is the director of animation and Milton Sarkar is the chief animator of "Field Marshal".
