‘Keramot Moula’s prowess on the stage is unmatched’

Eminent actor and cultural personality Keramat Moula , has been involved with theatre for decades.  The renowned artiste has been part of notable troupe Theatre for a long time. His performance in the popular movie "Surja Dighal Bari" and BTV's hit tele-fiction "Jonaki Jole" remains one of his most renowned works. The Ekushey Padak-winning actor turned 80 today.

On the occasion, The Daily Star had a conversation with the artiste and theatre moguls Ramendu and  Ferdousi Majumdar.

Keramat Moula has worked in a number of notable plays including "Roktokorobi", "Dui Bon", "Tasher Ghor", "Dak Ghar", "Oedipus", "Othello", among others.

 "All of my plays are really special to me. I really love my elderly character in the famous play "Payer Awaj Pawa Jay" and I have been part of this play for about 40 years," mentions the actor.

Apart from "Surja Dighal Bari", the veteran artiste has worked in popular movies such as "Nodir Naam Modhumoti", "Padma Nadir Majhi", "Mahanayak", "Molla Barir Bou", among others.

His notable works in tele-fictions include works such as- "Matir Kole", "Jonaki Jole", "Nodir Arek Naam", "Gohor Gachhii".

In 2014, the renowned thespian won the Ekushey Padak for his contribution to the arts.

Ferdousi Majumdar, one of the towering figures in Bangladeshi theatre, told the Daily Star all about the artiste.

"I have been working with Keramot Moula for a long time and have a great bond with him. He acted in my directorial play "Dui Bon" which received wonderful responses," mentions the actress.

"Keramat Moula is a good actor as well as a good person. He has a very deep, rich voice which really helps on the stage. Whenever he acts, he gives his 100 percent. I am really happy that he has turned 80 today, and I hope he lives long," adds the actress.

Renowned thespian and head of the troupe, Theatre, Ramendu Majumdar, shared wonderful words about the artiste.

"Keramot Moula's prowess on the stage is unmatched. He has delivered brilliant performances in films and on television too. He likes doing complicated roles. Not many have the courage to enact such difficult parts. He has acted in such timeless movies that his name will remain immortal throughout the ages," mentions Ramendu Majumdar.

"Keramot Moula is also an artist, which helped him on television. He worked as a designer in a television studio," he adds.

Keramot Moula also talked about his birth celebrations today.  

"I have been receiving tons of wishes since morning. I want to live with such love and appreciation. I will be staying at my house today and I will be enjoying the day with my family members," mentions Keramt Moula.

"To me, life is all about work. Our work keeps us alive," adds the actor.
