Nawazuddin not working with Jaya Ahsan in Indian web series

Celebrated Bangladeshi actress Jaya Ahsan was rumoured to be starring alongside renowned Indian actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui in an Indian web series to be directed by filmmaker Sayantan Mukherjee.

Today, Nawazuddin refuted the rumours to Indian media, saying that he is not committed to any web projects at the moment. Currently, the actor is shooting for "Heropanti 2" in London.

The plot of this web series is based on the 1967 Naxalbari uprising, which was led by Indian revolutionary leader, Charu Mazumdar. The director will follow the book, "Shada Ami Kalo Ami" by former police officer Runu Guha Niyogi.

Few days after the announcement of the web series, multiple reports were published stating that Abhijit Mazumdar, son of Charu Mazumdar, complained that the book itself distorts the history of the Naxalbari movement, and the police officer himself was controversial.

The Daily Star could not reach Jaya Ahsan for comments.
