PAW Foundation confers Jaya Ahsan with ‘Pranobik Bondhu’ Award

In recognition of the unconditional love and support of animals, The People for Animal Welfare (PAW) Foundation arranged "Pranobik Bondhu" Award 2021 on the occasion of World Animal Day (Monday).

The organisation, which intends to host the award programme every year henceforth, will honour 10 people from all walks of life working for animal welfare.

The awardees for this year are--Jaya Ahsan, DNCC Mayor Md Atiqul Islam, rescue worker Md Abu Bakar Siddik, Sudha Rani, Gracy Puspita Sarkar, veterinarian Dr Fatiha Emnoor Eima, journalist Probir Kumar Sarker, veterinary teacher Prof Nitish Chandra Debnath, public health expert Dr Be-Nazir Ahmed, and forest official Mollah Rezaul Karim.

According to a press note, Photographer Reshad Kamal will be conferred a posthumous award.

"There are so many people out there who work effortlessly for animal welfare. However, they always remain unnoticed, It is our little effort in appreciation of those people who are selflessly involved and contribute to the animal welfare movement," PAW Foundation said.

Due to the Covid-19 situation and limited time, PAW Foundation will hold the prize-giving ceremony in November.

World Animal Day, celebrated on October 4, is an international day of action for animal rights and welfare.

It is also known as the feast day of Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and ecology.
