There aren’t many well-made Durga Puja television productions: Moutushi Biswas

Model, anchor, and actress Moutushi Biswas has been selective about her work since she first appeared on the screen.

She made her debut with Mostofa Sarwar Farooki's popular TV series "Ekannoborti". She was also featured in Farooki's debut feature film "Bachelor". Later, she appeared in Alvi Ahmed's "U Turn",  and in the film "Krishnopokkho'' adapted from the novel of the same name written by Humayun Ahmed and directed by Meher Afroz Shaon.

Her recent short film "Arai Mon Shwapno", directed by Abu Shahed Emon, garnered wide appreciation. Moutushi was complimented for holding her own against a revered artiste like Fazlur Rahman Babu.

The actress had planned to spend Durga Puja holidays in Dhaka. However, she changed her mind at the eleventh hour.

"My mother-in-law was unwell, so we planned to stay in Dhaka," she shares. "But her health has improved a lot, so we came to Khulna with my mother and daughter. My father is here at Khulna."

The actress spent Ashtami with her parents. Before that, she paid a visit to Bashundhara Puja Mandap, where she has been spending Puja for the past few years. "I love visiting Puja Mandaps and eating at the Mandaps," says Moutushi.

She also spoke about the memories of her childhood at Chattogram. "When speaking about memories, I get nostalgic about the Ramkrishna Mission. During Puja, all the children would enjoy it from morning till evening," says Moutushi.

"I have some special memories of the festival at my paternal hometown, Khulna, especially of Bishorjon."

Moutushi has been celebrating Puja at Bashundhara in Dhaka for many years.

"Generally, we consider only the memories from childhood as the best, but for me, the memories of Puja after my marriage are also close to my heart," shares Moutushi. "Since I am a foodie, I absolutely love the 'bhog' served in the Mandap. Also in Bishorjon,  we enjoy playing with colours and dancing."

Upon asking which programmes she likes to watch at the festival of Durga Puja, the actress spoke rather candidly.  "There aren't many well-made Durga Puja television productions," she says.

"We have a wide range of stories that contain strong messages about our mythology, as well as social and humanitarian aspects. For instance, we could explore Maa Durga's battle with Asur or the significance of Bishorjon, but productions on such topics are rarely made."

She further added that commercially, there are only photoshoots and quick programmes on Puja, which are not up to the mark.

Lastly, Moutushi wished the readers and her well-wishers a 'Shubho Bijoya'.
