NBR member shot in city

Criminals shot an NBR official in the capital's Banani yesterday evening.

Injured Jahangir Hossain, a member of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), was hit by a bullet in his waist and was undergoing treatment at United Hospital.

Bhuiyan Mahbub Hasan, officer-in-charge of Banani Police Station, said Jahangir was walking in the compound of Customs Officers' Quarters in Banani around 7:30pm when four criminals went there by a private car. They then opened fire on him and left.

Two security guards at the quarters did not dare challenge the assailants, added the OC.

Police launched an investigation to identify the attackers and find out their motive.
