Haate Khori
Haate Khori is just one of the projects that give you the front row seat to watch the change you're making. The project Haate Khori by the One Degree Initiative Foundation was actually born from another project, but now it has become a flagship project on its own right. The project is a mobile school for domestic workers, where volunteers provide the domestic workers who cannot go to school with primary education and convince their employers to enroll them into school. The project also focuses on encouraging the volunteers to work as a consultant for the students.
The project has been going on for 3 months and requires volunteers' commitment during the entire time. That along with finding a place with the employers' permissions makes it a difficult project to implement. However, One Degree Initiative Foundation has taken a resolution to implement about 10 Haate Khoris this year and yours truly was fortunate enough to be leading the first one of the year.
The act of sitting there with the kids, watching them as they write down the new alphabet they learned due to the effort you put into teaching them, that right there is extremely fulfilling.
Haate Khori is a simple project, but it brings results. Often times, instantly. From what I've learned from Haate Khori, I can say that you cannot change the world or solve every global issue, but you can change someone's life by introducing education to them and inspire them to solve their own personal issues through empowering them. After that you don't really have to change the world, it might just happen through a chain reaction of changing one single person.
