Half-mast Nationalism

Independence Day has come and gone, and if you look around your neighbourhood you can still find some of the flags that were raised yesterday hanging limply from rooftops and balconies. Our cover this week is a reminder of the laws that dictate how we should respect the national flag, something many of us are unaware of. Next Bangladesh match, remember that you may be breaking the law by wearing the flag as a bandana.
Airplanes have been on the news quite often lately, first with the DC-10 being pulled off the runway and then with the missing Boeing 777. We bring to you a feature on the growing community of Plane Spotters in Bangladesh.
There's also a plaintive rant about the difficulties people with long and complicated names face in society, courtesy of our unusually named writer.
And lastly, we provide fodder for the disappointed Akon fans who flocked to the T20 opening ceremony only to watch him lip sync.
