BNP opposes Rampal

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir yesterday said the party had taken a clear stand against the coal based Rampal power plant for the country's interest and conservation of the Sundarbanbs.
Electricity is necessary but not at the cost of the forest, he told reporters after paying tributes at the grave of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman in the capital's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, alongside party chief Khaleda Zia.
