Two Ghanafootballers among three arrested with yaba
Police arrested three persons including two footballers from Ghana with 7,500 yaba pills in Chattogram’sBakalia and Dhaka’s Basundhara yesterday.
The arrestees are Masud(24),Frank (27), and Richard (28), said police.
BakaliaPolice Station Officer-in-Charge Nezam Uddin said Frank and Richard are playing in local premier league in Bangladesh.
Bakalia police detained themwith a bagin Shah Amanat Bridge area around 3:30am while they were returning from Cox’s Bazar by a bus, said the OC, adding that they found 7,500 yaba pills in it.
During primary interrogation, the duo told investigators that a man named Masudasked them to carry the bag, full of yaba, from Cox’s Bazar to him in Dhaka.
“Based on the confession, police later arrested Masudin the capital’s Basundhara and took him to Chattogram,” said the OC.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) (South) Shah Md Abdur Rauf said police are verifying their visas. A case was lodged in this connection.
